Buying from Red Seal

Are Red Seal vehicles already in Australia?

Yes. Vehicles advertised as available in our collection are already in Australia and prepared for sale. If you need something we don’t currently have, we can also help source a suitable vehicle from Japan.

How are Red Seal vehicle prices shown?

Each vehicle is individually marked as either a standard vehicle price or a Drive Away price. If it is not marked Drive Away, the advertised price excludes applicable statutory and government charges such as stamp duty, registration-related charges and transfer fees. Only vehicles specifically marked “Drive Away” include the applicable on-road charges represented by that price.

Can I test drive a vehicle?

Yes. Viewings and test drives are available by appointment at Red Seal, 142 Gray Street, Adelaide SA 5000. A valid driver’s licence is required for a test drive.

Do you accept trade-ins?

Yes. Red Seal buys and accepts trade-in vehicles directly. We assess value using age, kilometres, condition, service history, specification and current market conditions.

Do you offer finance?

Yes. We can introduce customers to third-party finance providers or brokers to discuss available options. Finance is subject to the provider’s eligibility requirements, assessment, approval and terms; Red Seal does not guarantee approval.

What warranty or consumer protection comes with my vehicle?

Vehicles purchased from Red Seal come with the statutory protections that apply under South Australian law, where applicable, as well as your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. For eligible second-hand vehicles, South Australia’s statutory duty to repair generally applies for periods based on the sale price and other vehicle criteria. These protections are separate; consumer guarantee rights cannot be excluded by a dealer warranty or contract. If you experience an issue, contact us promptly so it can be assessed. Japanese Imports & Vehicle History

Can I see the Japanese auction sheet and export certificate?

Where available, yes. For vehicles purchased through Japanese auctions, we generally retain the auction documentation available to us. Japanese deregistration or export documents may also be available. We use these records to help explain a vehicle’s history, rather than relying on an auction grade alone.

How do you verify a vehicle’s history and kilometres?

We review the information available for each car, which may include auction sheets, deregistration or export documents, service records, recorded kilometres and condition notes. We do not claim every vehicle has independent third-party odometer verification; we explain the records available for the individual car.

Can I arrange an independent pre-purchase inspection?

Yes. You’re welcome to arrange an inspection through RAA, RAC or another suitably qualified inspector. Contact us beforehand so we can arrange access to the vehicle.

Preparation & Ownership

Are Red Seal vehicles ready for registration in South Australia?

Vehicles sold by a dealer in South Australia must be roadworthy at delivery. We’ll confirm the individual vehicle’s compliance and registration status, plus applicable charges, before purchase. Requirements can differ for interstate buyers.

What preparation is completed before sale?

Preparation depends on the vehicle. We inspect its condition and record relevant servicing, repairs and detailing completed for that car. Ask us for the vehicle-specific preparation information; we do not apply the same checklist of replacement parts to every car.

Can Red Seal help with servicing after purchase?

Ask our Adelaide team about servicing, parts or other ownership support. What we can assist with depends on the vehicle and the work required, and we’ll explain the available options.

Interstate Buyers

Can I buy a Red Seal vehicle if I live interstate?

Yes. We can discuss a vehicle remotely, share available records and help arrange access for an independent inspection. Registration, duty and transfer requirements vary by state, so check the rules and costs that apply where you live.

Can you help arrange interstate transport?

We can discuss transport options and help obtain a quote. Delivery cost, timing and arrangements are confirmed for the individual purchase before you proceed.

Vehicle Sourcing from Japan

Can you source a specific vehicle from Japan?

Yes. Tell us the model, specification, budget and priorities through our sourcing request form. We’ll discuss what is realistically available before beginning a focused search.

Does a sourcing request commit me to buying or bidding?

No. Submitting a request does not commit you to a purchase or auction bid. We discuss suitable candidates with you, and no bid is placed without your authority.

How long does sourcing take?

Timing depends on the model, specification, condition standard and what is available in Japan. We’ll discuss the likely process for your brief; we cannot promise a fixed timeframe before finding a suitable car.
